About this service

Words written in an ending note have one weakness: unless somebody finds them, they never arrive. If the family does not know the notebook exists, it is never opened; a digital note sits behind a password. Written, but never read. Last Email exists to solve that. It is not a place to record things — it is a service that delivers them.

The mechanism is simple. While you are alive, an “Are you okay?” email arrives at the interval you choose. One click on the link is a complete reply, and you can rewrite your messages as often as you like. Only when the replies stop, and only after more than thirty days of layered confirmation, are the words you wrote sent to their recipients.

All you can leave is text. No photos, no videos, no complicated end-of-life tooling — because what you really want to leave behind is not elaborate content, but plain words. Message bodies are stored encrypted.

Getting started

  1. Create an account

Register with an email address and a password. You are asked to agree to the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy, and to confirm you understand that messages here carry no legal force. Opening the link in the confirmation email completes registration.

  2. Add your recipients

Register up to five people you want your words to reach. A name and an email address are all that is needed. You can choose the language of the delivered email for each recipient.

  3. Add trusted contacts

Register up to two people who will be asked whether you are still with us if you stop responding. Each must confirm their own email address. Trusted contacts never see the contents of your messages.

  4. Write your message

Answer a few questions — who it is for, what you want to say — and a draft appears, which you are free to rewrite. There is a preview identical to the email that will be delivered, and you can send a test to yourself.

  5. Choose the check-in interval

Pick how often the “Are you okay?” email arrives: every 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days. For periods when you cannot reply — travel, hospital — set a start and end date under Settings → Pause.

  6. Subscribe to switch it on

Buying the Basic plan starts the check-in and delivery machinery. From then on, all you do is click the link in the emails you receive.

Pricing and cancellation

There is one plan: Basic. It is billed annually and renews automatically, with no add-ons and no tiers. Five recipients, two trusted contacts, encrypted message storage, unlimited rewriting and JSON export are all included.

To cancel, go to Billing on your dashboard, choose “Manage cancellation and payment method”, and complete it in the Stripe customer portal. No phone call, no support ticket. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period, so you keep access until the period you have paid for runs out.

Within 14 days of payment we refund in full — contact us through the enquiry form. We do not offer refunds after 14 days, or prorated refunds. After cancellation your messages are kept for 180 days and then deleted; export them before that if you want to keep them.

The price depends on your country or region. The final amount is shown on the checkout screen.

What to know before you start

Frequently asked questions

How does the check-in work?
At the interval you set — 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days — we send an “Are you okay?” email. One click on the link inside completes your reply. Logging in to the service also counts as a reply.
Could a message be sent while I am still alive?
Confirmations run at Day 0 / 3 / 7 / 10 / 17 / 30, followed by a 72-hour final grace period once delivery is scheduled. A reply at any stage resets everything. If you will be away from email for a long time, use the pause feature.
What if I am travelling or in hospital?
Under Settings → Pause, set a start and end date. Neither check-ins nor delivery advance during that window. Indefinite pauses are not possible.
Can my trusted contacts read my messages?
No. All a trusted contact can do is answer whether you are still with us. They cannot view, edit or stop the delivery of a message.
Can I rewrite a message later?
Yes — as many times as you like, for as long as you are alive. Edit history is kept.
Can it reach someone in another country?
Yes. Anyone with an email address can be reached, anywhere. You choose the language of the delivered email per recipient.

This page explains how the service is used. Where it differs from the Terms of Service or the refund policy, those documents apply.
