Terms of Service Mainichi Nihongo · Last updated: July 23, 2026
1. Service description
Mainichi Nihongo ("the Service") is a browser-based Japanese-learning application. It provides lessons, spaced-repetition review, a library of learning items, and related features.
2. Accounts & eligibility
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
You must be at least 13 years old (16 where required by local law) to create an account.
3. Free trial & payment
New accounts include a 7-day free trial. After the trial, continued access requires a one-time purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
The price is US$24.99 as a single one-time payment. There is no subscription, no recurring charge, and no automatic renewal. Your purchase includes one year of updates from the date of purchase. After that year you may continue to use the Service at no additional cost for as long as we continue to operate it. This is not a guarantee of perpetual or indefinite availability. If we discontinue the Service, we will give reasonable advance notice by email or in the app, and, where a purchase was made within the preceding year, we will offer a remedy (such as a refund, a pro-rated refund, or an equivalent alternative) appropriate to the circumstances.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service: no attempts to disrupt it, scrape it at scale, probe or bypass security or paywalls, or use it for anything unlawful.
One purchase grants access to one account; sharing an account or reselling access is not permitted.
5. Intellectual property & independence
The Service's software, design, and original learning content are the property of the operator. Lesson material references third-party works for educational commentary and recommendation only.
This is an independent Japanese-learning service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any anime studio, manga publisher, game company, or VTuber agency.
6. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
We provide the Service with reasonable care, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every item of learning content is free of mistakes. The Service is an educational tool and does not guarantee any particular learning outcome, test result, or proficiency level.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you actually paid us for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for our own intentional misconduct or gross negligence. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your mandatory statutory rights.
7. Governing law & consumer rights
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, and the Tokyo Summary Court or Tokyo District Court (depending on the amount in dispute) shall have jurisdiction as the court of first instance.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you habitually reside, nor of any right you may have under those rules to bring proceedings in the courts of your own country. EU, EEA and UK consumers may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform where applicable.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect.
9. Provider information
Please contact us at the email address given in the provider information.
Our registered address and telephone number are disclosed without delay upon request to the contact address above. Prices are shown in US dollars; depending on your country, applicable consumption tax, VAT or GST may be added or included as indicated at checkout.

Privacy Policy Mainichi Nihongo · Last updated: July 23, 2026
What we store
- Learning data (progress, reviews, settings) is stored in your browser's local storage on your device. Clearing your browser data erases it.
- Account data: if you create an account, we store your email address (encrypted) so you can sign in and so we can contact you about your account.
- Session cookie: signing in sets a secure, httpOnly session cookie
(a
__Host-*cookie) used only to keep you signed in. - Payment: purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see, transmit, or store your card number.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no third-party trackers, no analytics beacons.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers to run the Service. They process data only on our instructions and only for the purposes below:
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe receives your payment details directly; we receive only a payment reference, amount and status.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, database storage and bot protection.
- Resend — sending account emails (verification, password reset, notices).
International transfers & legal basis
The operator is based in Japan, and the providers above operate global infrastructure, so your data may be processed outside your country — including outside the EEA/UK. Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on performance of the contract with you (providing the Service, sign-in, purchase and support) and on our legitimate interests in keeping the Service secure, and transfers are made under the safeguards offered by those providers (such as standard contractual clauses). Japan has an adequacy decision from the European Commission.
How long we keep it
Account records are kept while your account exists and are deleted promptly when you delete it; residual copies in encrypted backups expire within 30 days. Payment records are retained by us and by Stripe for the period required by tax and accounting law. Learning data lives only in your browser and is never uploaded.
Your rights & deletion
You can delete your account and all associated server-side data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Local learning data can be erased from Settings → Reset all data, or by clearing your browser storage.
Account deletion removes your server-side account record promptly; residual copies in database backups expire within 30 days. Where GDPR or similar laws apply, you also have the rights of access, rectification, portability, and objection — contact us to exercise them.

Refund & Cancellation Policy
The refund and cancellation terms below are set by the operator identified in the provider information above.

Refund & Cancellation Policy Mainichi Nihongo · Last updated: July 23, 2026
Free trial cancellation
Every new account includes a 7-day free trial. You can cancel at any time during the trial — simply let it expire or delete your account. You will never be charged for the trial; no payment method is required until you decide to purchase.
Refund window
If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may request a refund within 14 days of the purchase date. This is a voluntary refund offer that we honour wherever you live.
EU / EEA / UK consumers: for digital content you normally have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Because full access is unlocked immediately when your payment completes, by completing your purchase you request and consent to that immediate performance and acknowledge that you thereby lose the statutory right of withdrawal once performance has begun. Our voluntary 14-day refund offer above applies in any event, so you are not left worse off.
Nothing on this page limits your statutory rights where the Service is faulty, is not as described, or does not conform to the contract, nor any mandatory consumer-protection right in the country where you habitually reside.
If we discontinue the Service
Your purchase includes one year of updates and continued access for as long as we operate the Service; it is not a guarantee of perpetual availability. If we discontinue the Service, we will give reasonable advance notice and, where you purchased within the preceding year, offer a remedy appropriate to the circumstances (such as a refund, a pro-rated refund, or an equivalent alternative).
How to request a refund
Contact us at support@rewrite-co.com from the email address associated with your account, and include your purchase date or receipt.
Processing
Refunds are issued through Stripe to the original payment method. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it may take 5–10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.
